Android 4.0 update for Sony Xperia Live and other xperia devices

Note: You may already have the latest software, depending on the date of purchase. Software updates are released at different times depending on operator and country. Therefore, we cannot give you an exact date for when a specific update will be available for your phone.

New software is available for your Xperia™ smartphone

Update your software to benefit from:

• Recent Apps button for clear overview of your applications
• Quick responses for incoming calls
• Optimized email application for multiple accounts
• Improved control of your mobile data consumption

Good to know before the update:

• Android 4.0’s hardware requirements are more advanced than previous software updates, so your phone’s performance may be affected.
• Our commitment to offering you the best, means that once upgraded you will not be able to revert back to an older version of Android.
• To optimise your phone’s performance, some applications may have been disabled and will not be visible on your screen. A new installed application called ‘Performance Assistant’ will help you enable these apps. Please also note that some 3rd party applications may not be compatible with Android 4.0. Please visit Google Play’s marketplace to view apps that are compatible with Android 4.0 or contact the 3rd party developers directly for support.
• Flash support will be disabled, but this can be easily fixed by visiting Google Play’s marketplace and downloading the latest available Adobe Flash player application.

PC Companion

PC Companion is a computer application that acts as a portal to Sony Xperia and operator features and applications, such as phone software updates, management of contacts and calendar, media management with Media Go, and a backup and restore feature for your phone content (availability of applications depends on your phone and operator). Over time, more applications can be added and downloaded when made available by Sony Xperia or your operator.

Installation instructions

1. Download the installation package to a temporary folder on your PC.
2. Run the downloaded file, and follow the instructions that appear.

You can download the new software by connecting your phone to a computer and use one of our computer applications.

The SI is identified by an 8-digit number in the format XXXX-XXXX. To find out what SI number your phone has, please take off the back-cover and take out the battery. Under the battery you will find your SI number. Please use the pictures of each product as an aid to where to find it on your phone. Once you have found it, click the image to get to the post with the table and search for your SI number. We suggest that you use the in-page search in your web browser, which is commonly found by pressing ctrl + f key on your computer’s keyboard.

If you find your SI in the released software table the software for your device is released and available in PC Companion and Bridge for Mac where you can update your Xperia™ Smartphone.
