Samsung has been enjoying great success with its high-end Galaxy S series Android flagships over the past few years. The company's latest flagship Galaxy S4 handset is following in the footsteps of its predecessor and is well on course to become the bestselling smartphone till date. However, midrange users overlook this phone as it has a very high price tag. Fortunately for such users, Samsung has launched the Galaxy S4 Mini - a smaller and cheaper version of the flagship which promises to deliver a similar smartphone experience. Let’s find out if the phone can live up to expectations of mid-range buyers.

Design:
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini sports an appealing design with rounded corners and a curved back panel. Just like its big brother, it is also built entirely from polycarbonate and has a textured glossy finish on its back panel. As far as the phone's measurements are concerned, it has a height of 124.6 mm, width of 61.3 mm and thickness of 8.9 mm. Since the phone is compact in size, it also weighs quite less i.e. only 107 grams.

Display:
Like a majority of the Galaxy series smartphones, Samsung has again used a Super AMOLED panel on the Mini. The phone's 4.3 inches display supports multi-touch and has a resolution of 540 X 960 pixels, giving it a pixel density of 256 pixels per inch. It also uses Samsung's Adapt Display technology to provide an optimal viewing experience while running different kinds of applications.

Camera:
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini arrives with an 8 megapixel camera which allows you to capture high resolution still images of up to a maximum resolution of 3264 X 2448 pixels and record videos of 1080 pixels at the rate of 30 frames per second. Some of features available in the camera interface include face detection, smile detection, HDR mode, Panorama shot, geo-tagging, Sound & Shot, Drama shot, Best Face and much more. The phone also has a 2 megapixel at the front which can be used if you want to video chat with your friends or for capturing self-images.

Internal Hardware:
The phone brings along a dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.7 GHz, Adreno 305 graphics processor and 1.5 GB of RAM. In terms of storage space, users get about 5 GB out of the 8 GB inbuilt memory for file and data store. This is certainly not enough in today's world where users like carrying high-definition videos, music files, photos and other multimedia content on their phones. Hence, Samsung has provided a microSD card slot where users can insert external memory cards of up to 64 GB.

Software:
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini rolls out with Google's latest Android version 4.2.2 along with Samsung's TouchWiz user interface. Samsung has made sure that the software experience is similar to that of the Galaxy S4 by adding most of the effects, animations, widgets, etc. available on its flagship. Some of the notable features include Smart Screen, Multi-Windows, Air and Motion gestures, S Travel, S Translator, S Health, WatchOn and ChatOn.

Final Words:
Samsung's latest smartphone is a great choice for users who don't want to spend a fortune on high-end smartphones. It has a rich package of hardware and features which will tempt a lot of users especially those who just can't afford the expensive Galaxy S4.
